Army Wife....in Training?

Okay, so it's been 8 or 9 months since I last updated. This is crazy, because I've never had so much going on in my life! If someone would have told me even a year and a half ago that I'd be a pregnant Army wife today, I'd have laughed in their face. This was just never something I pictured for myself, or my family. This post may be a bit of venting, ranting, or whatever. I'm not sure yet, I'm just going to write and see what comes out...
Just to get everyone on the same page..... In May Kyle left to Fort Benning, GA for Basic Training. His MOS was to be an Infantryman. He tried to get Ranger (Special Ops) training in his contract, but they wouldn't give it to him. They told him "maybe... if you're good enough, they'll let you in." So, Kyle's goal was to be exceptional, so that he could get into RASP (Ranger Assessment and Selection Process). Kyle is the sort of man that always strives to be the best at anything he does. As far as the Army goes, being a Ranger is the best you can be without going on to Special Forces, wich we decided would NOT be good for our family. This goal was not going to be easy, given the fact that Kyle didn't get it in his contract. He was going to have to work extra hard to stand out and hope that he'd get the oppertunity to go to RASP.
Befor Kyle left, he was working early in the morning and going to school during the day. He only had school every other day though, and he got off work before Khloe and I woke up. He was home A LOT. We had him all day for half the week, and every night. Khloe was very used to having her daddy around, and I was used to having my husband at my beck and call :) Wow, how I took that for granted. We did everything together, and we loved it. I guess when we signed up for this (I have to constantly remind myself that we did, in fact, sign up for this....), we didn't take into account the extremely different lifestyle we were taking on. We told ourselves that five months wasn't very long, and we could do anything with the help of Heavanly Father. Which is true, we can do anything with HF on our side. And five months isn't very long, until you are pregnant, and you have no contact except through letters, and five months becomes nine months without your husband.

Without my best friend.
Without my other half.
Without my baby's father.
Without my... everything.
Maybe it sounds cliche, but I seriously had no idea how much I needed him until he was gone. He seriously takes care of me more than I ever realized. Especially when I was pregnant! I was so lucky to have a man that did the dishes, the laundry, AND loved to massage!! Does it get any better than that? Not only those things, but I took for granted having someone to tell me I look pretty on days that I don't feel it, or someone to vent to after a long day. Someone to laugh with about things I can't share with anyone else. Or someone to make me laugh when it's just one of those days. No one knows me like he does, and nobody can make me feel the way he can.
Being pregnant brought on a whole mess of other needs as well....

First off, let's get one thing straight, This is by no means meant to be a "pitty-party" of any kind. I don't feel bad for myself, nor do I want anyone else to feel bad for me. I am fully aware that I CHOSE THIS. I knew what I was signing up for, and I wouldn't change my decision given the chance. I just need to get my feelings out while I still remember how I felt.

Anyways.... Being pregnant was not so fun.... I was so sick ~~ALL THE TIME~~. The first trimester was hell, because I was too sick to function and I felt like the worst mother ever. Thank heaven for my sweet little angel. She was so understanding and self-sufficiant. She tried to take care of me.... I know it sounds terrible, but it was. I tried so hard to play with her as much as possible, and give her as much attention as I could, but I never felt like I was doing enough. Especially because she was feeling the loss of her daddy just like I was, only she was far more confused. She wouldn't talk about Kyle. She would change the subject if I tried. She'd just say "Daddy's at school." And that was all she'd say, unless I was crying (emotions.... just one more perk to being pregnant) then she'd say "You miss you husband? He will come home tomorrow!" Trying to cheer me up. That was her answer no matter what I was crying about. She is such a sweetie.
I wrote him everyday, sometimes twice a day. It was like a journal to me, because it's not like you can carry on a conversation through letters that take about three days to get where they're going... In the begginning he wasn't getting my letters. They were holding them, because he was doing well. They were trying to mess with him I guess. I was ticked. I was writing like crazy, and every letter I got from him was begging me to write him. It was seriously heartbreaking! He would say things like "I know you are probably busy with ______, but if you could just write me a small letter just to let me know how you guys are it'd mean the world to me...." or "My bunk-mate just got 5 letters! I thought one might have been for me, but it wasn't, so I was bummed"- He was just so sad about it, and it made me feel terrible! Finsally he snuck a call to me on someones phone and asked me if I even thought about him! He was close to tears, because he had only just received my very first letter! (It was about 3 weeks in) I promised him that I had written him everyday+ and he was happy after that. It was so hard to communicate! If he got to call (like never) it was only for three minutes tops. I'd try to ask him anything I needed to know, but it was hard to remember and have enough time. If I wrote him questions in a letter, it was a long shot that I get an answer, because he wrote his letters to me after lights out so he couldn't remember what I had asked. It helped if I highlighted the questions,but that was still a joke. I got so lucky with Kyle though, because he wrote me pretty much everyday! He was so good about it. Not very many guys wrote as much as he did. He wanted to feel like he was a part of our everyday lives, so I took pictures of EVERYTHING! Even things like a bad hair day, or my new toe-nail polish... I sent him pictures with most letters, and I guess he was pretty popular for it. He said that the other guys would croud around whenever he got new pics, so they could see. He said that they would randomly ask if they could look through his pics too and just sit by his locker and look through pics. There was very little entertainment in Basic Training... haha When I met some of his friends, they would all say how much they loved the pictures, and tell me their favorites. "Khloe's first bloody nose" seemed to be a fan favorite for sure, but there were a lot:)
The second trimester was a bit better, because I wasn't sick. However, This pregnancy HURT pretty much the whole time! There were no complications, so I'm definately not complaining, but everything just hurt. Krue would snuggle down in my pelvis and hit all sorts of nerves until he grew too big to fit in there. It was aweful! During this time, Kyle and I could still only write letters. It was hard when it came time to make travel plans to go out there for his Boot Camp graduation, and his Basic Training graduation. We did finally get to see him at the end of July for a couple days!

Khloe got emotional when she saw him! It was amazing! It was like she thought he'd just dissapeared, and was never coming back. She was so happy that she wouldn't leave his side! He even had to sit in the back seat with her the whole time.

She loves her daddy so much!

We went to lunch with a few of his buddies, and it was a blast hearing all the crazy stories about my husband! Kyle actually baptized the guy on the right! Kyle was totally a missionary out there. He was the only LDS guy out of 200 men! He had about 10-15 guys going to church with him every Sunday. They would all ask him questions and he'd tell stories about the 10,000 strippling warriors, Ammon, the Armies of Heleman, (catching a theme?) etc..... at night. I could not have been more proud of my husband. He had such a strong spirit about him, and he was just... a good man. I can't explain it, but I gained a new respect for him. The way the other guys talked about him with such a... reverence was amazing. They all had so much respect for Kyle and they all considered him to be their personal best friend. It was awesome to see him like that. Kyle said often that Basic Training was like an extension of his mission. This was just one of the many things that reassured us that we had made the right decision to join the Army.

We spent the majority of the trip just hanging out in the hotel. Kyle just wanted to chill with us. My mom was nice enough to come with us so that I didn't have to travel pregnant with Khloe alone!

When it was almost time to go, Kyle made a few videos for Khloe so that she could see her daddy. He sang songs with her, and told her goodnight, etc...

These videos made me cry everytime we watched them.... again with those pregnant horomones...:)

.Saying goodbye was so hard. I couldn't handle it! I felt so bad leaving Kyle there all by himself. At least I had Khloe, and our families. He had nobody, and I just felt for him. That was a wonderful trip and It couldn't have come at a better time. I don't think I could have made it much longer. I wouldn't see him again until September... Let the counntdown til September begin!

Backyard Campfires

With all of the wonderful weather lately, we've been taking advantage of our backyard.

Khloe plays out there daily, and loves every minute of it.

She used to be scared of getting dirty and would say "help, dirty" if there was dirt on her hands.

Now after playing with her uncle, she beggs me to "play dirt?" all of the time.

She loves to play in the dirt.

One thing that we've started to do often is light a fire in our dire pit and roast marshmellows!

We love S'mores!

We've had family and friends come join us and that's when it's the most fun.

22 Years Old

Yes, it's a bit late. Better late than never!

My bithday was on February 27th and my husband made it amazing!! First he took me shopping and to dinner in Vegas. We had so much fun, and we went to PF Changs!!!

I LOVE PF CHANGS!
Kyle definately spoiled me big time this year. I got A LOT of new clothes and jewelry :)
Then just when I didn't think my birthday could get any better, it did.

Kyle and my mom threw me a surprise party!!! There were so many friends an family there! I felt so loved. Thank you everyone who came and wished me a happy birthday! It was wonderful!

By the way, I'm not sure who had my camera, but these are all of the pics that I ended up with! There were a lot more people than are showed and I'm sorry!, but I love you all!

This is Khloe's favorite movie right now. And though I'm getting sick of it, I love this movie!
It makes me laugh out loud. It's just a cute movie. It has all of Khloe's favorite things, balloons, dogs, a grappa, a bird named Kevin....etc. She just can't get enough. She get's so into it too, it cracks me up.

Our New House!

So back in November, we bought a house!! It was a cute little fixer-upper, and we had to have it! It was the weirdest thing. We weren't even really looking for a house anymore, but our realitor was still sending us houses to look at. I was looking through some of the emails and I came across this house. It was a little hard on the eyes, but the tile was beautiful and it was cheap! Just for fun, I asked Kyle if we could stop and look in the windows on the way to the store.

So we are looking in the windows, and this place was TRASHED! There were huge holes in the walls, every wall was a different color. Someone had even spray-painted in the shower!!! This house looked like a lost cause, but for some reason I couldn't shake the feeling that it was supposed to be ours. When we walked around to the backyard, I couldn't believe it. The yard was HUGE! (for St. George) That was one of the most important things I was looking for in a house. Everything else could be fixed, but you couldn't build a yard.

Luckily my husband and his family build houses, so we had plenty of help fixing it up just the way we wanted it! It's an older home, so there are HUGE mature tees that give us a ton of shade! (and a ton of leaves for raking...) Tha major selling piont for me was the yard. The house is on a quarter acre and the yard is Splendid! Well... it will be when it has grass and stuff.... :) Let's just say there is tonz of potential! So while you look at these pics, think ... potential.

Fixing the house up ourselves was so fun! I think it really made me appreciate it more. I like to call it the surprise house because it looks old and ugly on the outside, then you walk in to SURPRISE!!! Everything is new and updated! haha... Anyways... Paper Route Helper

So for the past year, Kyle and I have done a route for the Spectrum.
(yes, it's lame. however, it does pay my mortgage:)

Every morning at 5:00am Khloe and I get bundled up and deliver papers for about an hour and a half.

(And no, we do not do it on a bike.)

Anyways, Khloe is such a trooper! She does it every morning with me!

(unless it's too cold or raining, in which case Rodney sleeps over so she can stay home.)

She is seriously the light of my life.
It just doesn't get any better than this!

She loves to "help" me fold the papers and sing "Doncha!"

I had her say "don' cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" one time and she got a huge reaction from it so she just kept saying it. Then I downloaded the song fo her and it's her favorite now.

Horrible mother? Maybe.

But I get to hear:

"Doncha baby doncha! gerfend like me, Doncha!" all day long!

I think it's adorable, I'm not gonna lie.

So it's been a while since I've blogged. So naturally, a lot has happened.

We bought a house.
I dyed my hair dark.
Kyle joined the Army.
You know,
the usual.

Khloe loves to take rides in the wagon! My step-dad Jason always takes her so whenever
she sees him she says "Grappa Wagon Please!!"

My Baby is One Year Old!

Khloe's birthday party was so fun! It was past her bed time so she was a bit... edgy at times. She was so happy playing with her gifts and her favorite uncle Kyson!

Thay just kept kissing eachother! It was adorable!

This was her personal cake... I know it's really pretty and all... it was green when I bought it so I re-iced it myself! I mean... I made it? It looks like a big ball of icing. There's cake in there somewhere, I promise!

*One Year Old*

Khlo has the cutest little personality! She knows exactly what she wants, and exactly how to tell me!
She can go potty on the potty, but is starting to choose not to depending on whether or not she wants to stop what she's doing and go. I'll see her start to push while she's playing and I'll ask her if she needs to go poop and she'll say "yes" (while shaking her head up and down of course). Then I'll say "Okay! Let's go to the potty!!", Then she'll look toward the bathroom, back at her toys, then turn to me and say "Nope." (while shaking her head of course). She'll then proceed to push while she plays. It's wonderful.
Khloe can read at least 12 of her flashcards now. It's amazing! For some of them she'll just fo the actions (for example: CLAP-she'll just clap; WAVE-wave; FEET- she'll grab her feet; you get the idea...), but the rest of them she'll say the word. I'm so excited about it!
She doesn't walk yet, and gets really mad when we tell her to
Her favorite animal is a cow and whenever the cow comes up on one of her shows she goes crazy! If you ask her what the cow says she'll go: "MOO!"
She likes to push the garbage can around the kichen. She actually loves to push anything really...
She has been able to go up the stairs forever, but until just recantly she'd sit and cry at the top of the stairs because she was scared to come back down! When she finally was able to come down the stairs she was so excited that she just kept going up and down the stairs for the rest of the day! She'd just climb half way up and right back down litterally for twenty minutes at a time over and over!
She is an amazing eater. ~~She never stops~~.
She LOVES water
She loves her babies~~[dolls]~~ and never stops kissing them
Khlo likes to surprise you with kisses when you aren't expecting them and she's very forceful about it! She'll just randomly open her mouth and throw her face at you... so watch out!
She loves to share and will try to feed me whatever she's eating/drinking at the moment

Khloe is such an angel and we are so blessed to have her in our lives!

It's been a while...

It's been forever since I've posted, so I figure I've got some catching up to do!
Don't get excited.... nothing too amazing has happened. ~~I'm lame.~~
Chloe is getting so Big. I can't believe she'll be one year old in 14 days! It's amazing how time flies! She isn't walking yet, but she does pretty much EVERYTHING else.

She talks all the time. She has about a 20-30 word vocabulary.
She's very naughty ~~most of the time~~, and she knows exactly what she's doing when she's being bad.

She thinks it's okay to do bad things as long as she says "Oh, no no no no..." while she does it. How am I supposed to get mad while she's doing that?
If I do something "bad" [something she doesn't like] Then I get her fat little finger shaking in my face and a loud "NO NO NO NO MOM!!" Or she'll just get really mad and clench her fists.
My little RED daughter knows what she wants!
She's such a little PERFORMER! She'll do anything for an audience or for praise.

She loves to hear what a BIG Girl she is or what a Sweet Baby she is!
She is a water bug for sure whether it's drinking it or playing in it she cant get enough!!

Chlo is VERY Independent! She likes to do things herself and is always trying to figure things out. She tries to figure out how to unbuckle her carseat, her stroller, anything holding her back!

.when i go to her crib she gets so excited that she starts rolling all over the place.

.chloe loves to laugh and it is extremely easy to get her going.

.she gets into these giggly moods and she'll look at you like "do something, do ANYTHING"

then she'll just crack up if you even look at her.

I was doing dishes and chloe was laying on the floor playing with her toys. In about four minutes she had rolled all the way across the room, pulled these out of her diaper bag, took the lid off, and poured it all out on her face! Her mouth was as full as it could be and the little treats were everywhere! I couldn't help but just laugh and take pictures of the little stinker!

It was hilarious until I had to get all the partially disolved cereal out of the carpet.

Cali Trip!!

For Kyle's Birthday this year I decided to take him on a surprise trip to the BEACH! I only had a week to plan it and I hadn't saved up or anything. It was a bit of a far fetched plan to say the least, but I told the family to just pitch in instead of buying him a gift. I got some people to work for him so he'd have the time off, then I planned on having a yard sale that weekend. It was raining on Friday so I made Kyle do it without me on Saturday. I expected to get like fifty bucks or something, but every little bit helps! Well, you can imagine my surprise when I found out we made over $200!!! [and got rid of a ton of crap] I love yard sales!

So 4:00am came around and Kyle was so mad that I made him get up and get dressed so early. He had no idea what was going on. Then we got on the road and he perked up a bit. He didn't know where we were going until we were passed Vegas. I made him look at the map for me and he freaked out! He was so excited! It was only a two day trip, but it was a blast! It went by way too fast......I took a ton of pictures, so I'd have proof that we even went!

Funny story about how Taunie is a horrible mother.....:

                 While on a date with my wonderful husband we recieve a call from his sister [babysitting Chloe]. She innocently asks "Did you know Chloe has cut two teeth?"


                                                                 WHAT?

                                                        uhhh............. ~~of course?~~


                                                                                  actually, uh,       no.

       Okay, so I had no idea. Now before you go judging me, keep in mind that the average age a baby cuts his first tooth is 6 months old. Chloe is four months. Sure she drooled and chewed things but what baby doesn't? She wasn't cranky, she didn't have a fever, NOTHING! Plus they were her two bottom teeth and she always covers them with her tongue anyways so I couldn't see them! Also with it being flu season and all, I don't let her chew on my fingers very often anymore so I didn't feel them.

So there.

There are my excuses, take 'em or leave 'em.

So today I got a pictue of them!! This was no easy task, mind you. It took a few takes....

Chloe loves her swing, and she loves watching the little butterfly lights above her head. It's like she's in her own little world! The sad part is that she's getting huge and is almost too big for it! Her feet pretty much hang off the edge. It will be a tragedy when she doesn't fit in it anymore...

Every year Kyle goes clear up to Boulder Mountain to hunt Elk.
He's usually gone for about a week.

                           Lame.

He loves it though, so whatever. I went with him one year, and it was fun when you actually found elk (or anything for that matter). But 891/2% of the time you are just hiking in freezing weather.

Kyle says it's okay to shoot these animals because we eat them.

I still have last year's elk in my freezer. Never once have I asked Kyle what he wanted for dinner and heard him say hmmm...ELK sounds lovely!

I was actually looking up ways to prepare elk meat... there are all of these "tricks" to make it taste like beef. Why not just eat beef? Just a thought.

Chloe and I were all ready to go for a walk, but the second she got outside she started sneezing like crazy and couldn't breath. Nice. Allergies. Chloe loves being outside so, needless to say, we were both bummed.

Road Trip!!

We were taking a trip up to Salt Lake, so Lancia and Lykan came with us. It was a pretty crazy ride with two babies, but we had a lot of fun!

Chloe and Lykan were so good!! We were very surprised. (Chloe hates her carseat)

We stayed with my dad and went to the Hill Air Force Museum

Kyle gave Chloe the most beautiful blessing! He is so wonderful, and I am so grateful to have him in my life. He is and will be an amazing father! This is officially Chloe Carter.

We blessed Chloe at my mom's ward so that Chloe and Lykan could be blessed together. Stephen wanted Kyle in the circle and vica verca. Stephen recieved the Priestood the night before, so blessing Lykan was his first time using it. This was an awesome day!

Secondhand Serenade Concert

This was our first "post-baby date". We went to see Secondhand Serenade. It was so fun to just be out with my sweet husband again! We doubled with our friends, Stephen & Lancia Darvaux. It was their first PBD also! They have a baby boy named Lykan. He is a doll.

I know what you're thinking. It looks yellow. That's because it was! Haha.... not my fault. He got restless and made me wash it out before it was done. You're probably wondering why in the world I'd let him bleach his hair in the first place, why would I let him do something I knew would look terrible?.... because I thought it'd be funny. That's why.

It was funny.

We dyed it dark again the same night. I tried to get him to wear it around a bit. You know, see if it grew on him. He wouldn't do it. I was lucky to get these pictures. Very lucky:)

Chloe's First Bath-ish...

This was Chloe's first sponge bath at home. Kyle didn't want to put her in the water, because he was scared he'd get the umbilical cord wet. He was so careful! It was adorable.

A few days later I braved it and put her in her bath anyway:)

My mom came over and helped me.

She liked it too!...for about a minute.

Finally Home! I couldn't believe how much different she already looked only the next day.

We are the Carters, and we have been married since June 16, 2007. Here's a little bit about us... My maiden name is Taunie Mellor and I moved here to St. George about five years ago. Kyle is from Enterprise, Utah. He's lived there most of his life. Kyle served a mission in Northern California, and two days after his return met the love of his life! We were married 7 months later:) We definately didn't waste any time! We are so happy and so in LOVE!

Right now Kyle is working out at Diamond Ranch Academy and loves it, although ultimately he is working on attending the police academy. He is way excited about it! I am still attending Taylor Andrews Academy of Hair Design. I love it, but I'm so ready to be done with school! So close......
